My introduction/自己紹介

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my website.

This article says about me. I would like to introduce myself in English.

My name is Michiko Noboriguchi. I was born in Tokyo, Japan. I have lived in Sapporo, Hokkaido (the north of Japan) since I was 3 years old.

I have a cerebral palsy and use my cool powered wheelchair.

I have lived independently with my assistant’s support for about 12 years. I need some supports as below.

・Going to the bathroom

・Changing clothes

・Transferring me to and from my wheelchair

・pushing my wheelchair when necessary

・Some assistance with eating and meal preparation

・Getting in and out of bed

・Rolling me over in bed at night

・Bathing/showering

I am a social worker, and provide counseling services which are commissioned by the Sapporo city government. I provide supporting adults and families who have young child to choose social services on their own.

Additionally, I am a activist for people with disabilities. I have had the presentation for university students who study social services, providers as well as people with disabilities for about 11 years. I have been trying to address that “People with disabilities have the rights to make their own life as same as people with abled body.” thus far.

I actually have struggled with some discriminations which are internalized into each people in Japan since I was shocked at the murder case in the facility named “The Tsukui Yamayuri garden” in 2016.

I have been taking efforts to speak up to expand areas accessible which accommodate for people with wheelchair, such as elementary school, university, company which are related to me. As I said before, I have been thinking How I should describe that “even if we have a disability, we can do whatever we want to with appropriate environment and support. ” to ask for understanding. But the accident made me depressed. I couldn’t say anything, even now…

But I  should have conversations as long as I can do activity. That is first purpose to make my website.

A lot of my friends and others also have difficulties and struggle with them in their communities and society. I really am pleased to meet them during my life.

I would like to enjoy my life and share my experiences with you.

皆さんこんにちは! 私のウェブサイトにようこそ。今日は私の自己紹介について英語で書きたいと思います。私の名前はMichiko Noboriguchiです。東京で生まれ3歳から北海道に住んでいます。私の障害は脳性麻痺で、かっこいい電動車椅子を使っています。

私は12年間アシスタント利用しながら自立生活をしてきました。自分には以下のようなサポートが必要です。

・トイレ

・着替え

・車椅子からどこかへ移動するとき

・外出時など必要に応じて車椅子を押してもらう

・食事の用意

・ベットに入ったり、起き上がるとき

・寝返り

・入浴

私はソーシャルワーカーとして、市から委託を受けた相談支援を行っています。障害のある大人や、障害のある子どもを持つ家族に、福祉サービスやその他のサービスを選ぶときのサポートをしています。さらに、障害当事者として活動もしています。福祉サービスについて学ぶ大学生や、サービス事業者の人々、そして障害のある人々を対象に、11年ほど講演を行ってきました。これまで、「障害者は障害のない人と同じように、自身の生活を送る権利を持っている」ということを話してきました。

実を言うと、2016年に津久井やまゆり園事件を目の当たりにしてショックを受けてから、日本における人々に内在化された様々な差別について、悩み考えてもがいてきました。これまで関わってきた小学校、大学、会社などに障害者にとってバリアフリーなところを広げるよう訴えてきたつもりでした。先ほども書いたように、「たとえ誰もが障害を持ったとしても、誰もが適切な環境やサポートがあれば、やりたいことができる」ということを理解してもらうために、どのように伝えていくべきか考えてきました。しかし、その事件をうけて私はかなりショックを受け、言葉が出なくなりました。今もなお悩んでると思います。

しかし、私は活動できる限り、会話をしていくべきだと思っています。それが、このウェブサイトを始めた最初の目的です。ほかにも、それぞれの生活の場や社会で困難や悩みを抱えてる人は多くいます。

これまで色々な人と出会ったことをうれしく思っています。

私は生活を楽しんでいきたいですし、そのような私の経験を共有していきたいと思います。
